What does baptism mean?

The New Testament example of water baptism by full immersion, is a public expression of faith. Jesus explained the importance of baptism to Nicodemus in John Chapter 3. Nicodemus was one of the leaders of the Sanhedrin of the Jewish nation. The best way to describe in our time period what the Sanhedrin represented is by thinking of it as a combination of the Supreme Court and Harvard, all in one.  Jesus tells Nicodemus in Verses: 5-7, if he wanted to see the Kingdom he “must be Born Again”.Being Born Again is not a an option, it’s a “MUST”.

The supernatural act of being Born Again by a Baptism of Water (which symbolizes remission of sin and burying your old life in those waters like a watery tomb) and a Baptism of the Spirit (which symbolizes the Holy Spirit sanctifying you into your new birth in Christ) is at the core of what Baptism means. This two-part equation of being Born Again, will give access to the power and authority of the Kingdom in you, through the Blood of Jesus Christ.

You don’t get baptized in order to be saved; you get baptized because you know that you are saved by the redeeming Blood of Jesus Christ! Baptism is a public declaration that you want to serve God for the rest of your life. Amen!

Below are Baptismal Vows that our Ministry uses prior to baptizing anyone in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as Matthew 28:19 commands us to do. Please pray over this life-long commitment and what accepting, proclaiming, and declaring these vows below will mean for your life…

(12) Baptismal Vows to God Almighty

(Please raise your right hand and say either “I do” or “Yes” if you choose to do so)

I. Do you believe there is one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a unity of three Persons in ONE, known as the Trinity?

II. Do you believe that the Bible is God’s inspired Word through the Holy Spirit, and our ultimate Authority of Faith, to guide you as a True Christian?

III. Do you accept the Ten Commandments as a transcript of the character of God and a revelation of His will?

IV. Do you covenant with God to spend time regularly in prayer and in the study of the Bible, so that your Relationship with Him will get stronger and so that you will continue to grow in spirit & in Truth?

V. Do you believe that your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit; and will you honor God by caring for it, and will abstain from anything that can harm it, so that you can invite the Kingdom to dwell in you?

VI. Do you believe that the Holy Spirit is our means of living the True Gospel of the Kingdom IN Christ, and that the Holy Spirit will be our guide, instructor and teacher; and He will lead us to ALL Truth?

VII. Do you accept to live a Christ-centered life in your home, and before the world and allow the Holy Spirit to help you on this journey of Faith?

VIII. Do you accept by faith the righteousness of Christ, and accept His promise of the blessed hope of the Second Advent of Jesus?

IX. Do you today accept the Great Commission of the Gospel of the Kingdom, and agree to use your gifts & talents and be the hands & feet of Christ to help others to be ready for His glorious appearing?

X. Do you accept the New Testament teaching of being Born Again by a Baptism of Water by immersion and Baptism of the Holy Spirit; and that as of today, you will “walk in Newness of Life” IN Christ Jesus?

XI. Do you accept the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross as the atoning Sacrifice for your sins and believe that by God’s Grace, through faith in the shed Blood of Jesus, you are redeemed from sin and its penalty?

XII. Do you desire to be baptized today as a public expression of your belief in Jesus Christ and accept & confess Jesus as Lord over your life and personal Savior, believing He has forgiven your sins; And do you renounce the sinful ways of the world and today want to be added to God’s Family as His child and Co-heir with Christ?

“Today you become a member of that Body of Christ and co-Heir with Him!”
